I create scifi themed RPG maps on Patreon

One of my maps on Patreon.

After much consideration, I’m on Patreon. I didn’t plan to do this, but there I am.

It all started with a post-it note and a weekly meeting at the office. I had a pad of post-it notes and an ink pen and I was waiting for the meeting to start. Suddenly I got on idea to draw a map. That was the first actual RPG, or dungeon map, in years if you don’t count quick doodles while GMing. I decided to draw a map every day for the whole November and playfully named this challenge as #mapvember. By the end of November there was a few others doing their #mapvember maps and I got really encouraging feedback of my maps. But, most importantly, it felt good to draw maps. So, I decided to keep on drawing maps. Then a few people asked if I had Patreon or if they could buy high-resolution maps somewhere. Then I started to seriously consider Patreon and after a few days I made my decision to give it a try.

About My Creations

On Patreon I’m creating content for science fiction RPGs because I’m a big scifi geek and, you guessed it right, I love roleplaying games. My creations can vary in style and substance, but there are a few principles I follow with all Patreon content I release:

  1. Science fiction in its broadest sense: Topics range from hard SF to steampunk, post-apocalyptic and science fantasy.
  2. Hand-drawn: Original maps and drawings are always done with pens, markers, etc. on paper.
  3. Easy to adapt: You can use the maps with little or no effort in any appropriate setting. The adventures and other resources with rules I try to make system-agnostic, so that they are easy to adapt to most popular RPG systems.

I think this might be worth a mention too: I have kids and play RPGs with them. This will also reflect on most of my creations on Patreon. Most of my materials will be kid friendly, not made particularly for children (although I might occasionally do something like that too), but for all ages. Like Star Wars or Pixar movies, for example.

Not familiar with Patreon?

Patreon in 5 Easy Steps
If you are not familiar with Patreon, this is how it works:

  1. I create science fiction themed maps and other resources for tabletop RPGs.
  2. You subscribe as my patron and set an amount you want to pay per each map, adventure or gaming aid I release. You may also set how many times a month at most you want to patron my creations. If you are not registered to Patreon.com, you can register with your Facebook account with a couple of clicks.
  3. I release Patreon content I have created (a map, an adventure or some other piece of scifi RPG material).
  4. You will get a notification of the new release and you can access the new content by logging into Patreon.
  5. Your patronage is collected monthly for each release I have made, up to your monthly limit. You can use a credit card or Paypal for payments.

Pretty straightforward, right?  You can find my Patreon page HERE (www.patreon.com/miska)
